ESCREO White Writable Paint no titanium dioxide

A cleaner, safer and more creative environment is easier than you think

When coating your walls with regular paint, you’re always going to go for a safe brand for you, your family and where possible, good for the environment as well. So, why should your whiteboard paint be any different?

We’re proud to introduce the latest addition to the ESCREO family: the ESCREO Eco White Primer and paint. Now, you can convert any wall or surface in your home into a creative or productive space without worrying about chemicals and other nasties that can affect your immediate environment. But what were the issues in the first place? Let’s take a look.

Is regular paint dangerous?

Common household paint is made up of different chemicals and substances – some of which aren’t particularly organic or even 100% safe. One such substance is known as Titanium Dioxide, and is a major part of white paints thanks to its high opacity and ability to hide any colours or shades that it covers. But, even though it has its uses, it’s not without potential downsides.

On September 2, 2011, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), listed titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size) as a cancer causing agent (through inhalation), and Europe is also planning to ban its use in foods.

Now, we don’t want to cause a panic, as you most likely have used common white paint in different areas of your home. The banning of Titanium Dioxide is a precautionary measure, and not anywhere near the dangers of asbestos and other harmful materials. The powder form of the substance presents no risk when incorporated in a finished product (such as paint) as the finer particles cannot disperse in the air.

But, if you could have the choice between a paint that has it, and one that hasn’t, it’s pretty easy to make a choice.
