ESCREO’s goods and services are now carbon neutral
We have set ourselves ambitious goals and are striving to achieve them as part of our climate protection strategy. The carbon neutrality of our goods and services is the next step on our journey towards becoming the first carbon neutral whiteboard paint company by the end of 2022. At the heart of this transition towards a sustainable ESCREO are the conscious choices taken by our company which came naturally over the past few months.
How are our goods and services carbon neutral?
We have achieved the carbon neutrality of our goods and services by balancing their emissions of carbon dioxide with its removal. In other words, we have offset our company’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by covering the emissions footprint of the goods and services that we offer:
Scope 1 – Direct emissions from company owned or controlled sources, e.g. company facilities, business travel and vehicles, etc.
Scope 2 – Indirect emissions created during the production of energy purchased and used by our company, e.g. electricity, heat, cooling, steam, etc.
Carbon offsetting is a climate action that enables individuals and companies to compensate for the carbon emissions they cannot avoid. This is done by supporting worthy projects that reduce emissions somewhere else. This is how we have offset our own unavoidable emissions.

Which project have we chosen to support and why?
As part of our carbon offsetting strategy, we have invested in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project 2535: CUIDEMOS Mexico (Campana De Uso Intelegente De Energia Mexico) – Smart Use of Energy Mexico. This is a project that has been verified and validated by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
There are a myriad of project types, but we chose to support the United Nations (UN) as it is the first organisation to introduce and issue carbon credits under the CDM. We have identified this energy project as the most relevant to us with the help of our partners from The Hut Group who have also retired the carbon credits for us. You can see their own retirement record here.
Why are we offsetting our carbon footprint now?
2021 is the first year of the “Decade of Action”. We would like to contribute as much as we can to something much bigger than us as in helping to leave the world better off than we found it. And we have started doing so. We promote and embed sustainability into everything we do through our unique capacity for innovations and partnerships.
This is our final chance to achieve the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) on time. Also known as the Global Goals, these are targets for global development adopted in 2015, set to be achieved by 2030. The 17 SDGs call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure all people enjoy peace and prosperity while recognising that action in one area will affect outcomes in others.
What is next оn our journey?
The size of our carbon footprint has a significant impact on our strategy. Hence why, we have put a focus on our ongoing and upcoming green initiatives, including forestry projects, carbon offsetting, new product launches, and conscious choice of suppliers and partners:
- Proud green invoicing – all invoices go straight to the email boxes of our clients in an e-version
- We plant (more) trees – we plant a tree with every order placed via our website
- First carbon neutral product that absorbs CO2 – new product launch planned for early 2022
- 100% conscious suppliers – 100% of our suppliers to be carbon conscious by mid 2022
- First carbon neutral whiteboard paint company – We commit to offset our Scope 3 emissions by 2025
