It happens to the best of us. A phone rings, a notification pops up, an advertisement suddenly grabs our attention and slowly but surely we\u2019re inevitably lured into a never-ending loop of distractions. We\u2019re curious creatures by nature and we easily fall prey to the thousands of distractions awaiting us at every corner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Understanding Distractions<\/span><\/h2>\n

Let\u2019s be fair. Distractions are designed to make us want to look and every new piece of the puzzle makes us desire to learn even more. The world economy relies on that and there are completely separate branches in psychology contemplating the various ways of grasping humans\u2019 attention. Be it a commercial organization wanting to show off a product, a non-for-profit hoping to put a different perspective on human rights, or even a regular person sharing photos of his pet on social media – in the 21st century everybody wants to be heard. Don\u2019t get me wrong, the conveniences that the technological era provides in terms of free information, ease of access, long-distance communication, and content creation greatly surpass the disadvantages. But for better or worse, devices have radically changed the way people perform their jobs. Fortunately, as damaging that they can be, distractions are actually manageable and keeping them under control is bound to raise productivity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Managing distractions and Maintaining Focus<\/span><\/h2>\n

Keeping distractions at bay for the regular PC user at work is fairly simple. Most companies rely on special website blocking software, secure VPN connection, and limited software use. This method works great for a shop cashier, for example, but what happens when the job involves more or less creativity and internet browsing?<\/span><\/p>\n

New-age internet jobs like social media management, SEO, copywriting, and graphics design rely hugely on the use of the Internet for tasks like competition research, gathering information and data, finding media resources, or just getting inspiration.<\/span><\/p>\n
